PCOS & Hormonal Health

PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease) occurs when the ovaries release immature eggs, causing hormonal imbalance — generally considered a lifestyle-influenced condition. PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is a more complex metabolic and endocrine disorder that can significantly affect fertility and overall health. Dr. Shivani will accurately diagnose your condition and tailor management accordingly.

In mild cases, meaningful improvement can be achieved through targeted lifestyle changes — dietary adjustments, regular physical activity and stress management. However, most patients benefit from a structured combination of lifestyle intervention and medical therapy. Dr. Shivani assesses each case individually and avoids over-medicating where possible.

PCOS is one of the most common — and most treatable — causes of irregular ovulation and fertility challenges. With appropriate management, including cycle regulation and ovulation induction where clinically indicated, most women with PCOS can conceive. Dr. Shivani offers a carefully guided fertility pathway for patients who are trying to become pregnant.

Maternity & Fertility

Ideally as soon as your pregnancy is confirmed — or even before, if you are planning to conceive. Early consultations allow for timely screening, nutritional guidance and development of a personalised antenatal care plan appropriate to your health history.

A pregnancy is considered high-risk when factors exist that require additional monitoring — such as a pre-existing health condition, gestational complications like diabetes or pre-eclampsia, advanced maternal age or a history of pregnancy loss. Dr. Shivani provides specialist care and close monitoring for all high-risk cases from the first trimester through delivery.

Dr. Shivani begins with a thorough evaluation of both partners before recommending any treatment. She takes a conservative, step-by-step approach — starting with lifestyle and medical intervention before considering advanced options — and ensures you understand each decision clearly.

Preventive Screening

Current clinical guidelines recommend beginning Pap smear screening at age 21 and repeating every three years if results are normal. Dr. Shivani will assess your individual history and recommend an appropriate schedule.

Yes. The HPV vaccine has an extensive safety record, studied in tens of millions of individuals worldwide. It is approved for use in females aged 9 to 45 in India and significantly reduces the risk of HPV-related cervical cancer. Dr. Shivani will discuss the most appropriate formulation based on your age and vaccination history.

Most women describe mild discomfort rather than pain. The procedure takes only a few minutes. Dr. Shivani performs smears gently and explains each step beforehand — many patients are reassured by how straightforward the experience is.

Contraception

There is no single 'safest' method — the right choice depends on your health history, age, hormonal profile and future pregnancy plans. Dr. Shivani conducts a thorough assessment before making a personalised recommendation genuinely appropriate for your specific circumstances.

The procedure typically takes 5 to 10 minutes and is performed in-clinic. Some women experience mild cramping during or briefly after insertion, which generally settles quickly. Dr. Shivani uses a gentle technique and explains each step beforehand.

Teen Gynaecology

There is no fixed age — any teenager experiencing irregular or painful periods, unusually heavy bleeding, significant acne, unexplained weight changes or puberty-related concerns can benefit from a consultation. Earlier assessment leads to earlier, more effective management.

Yes. Teenagers are welcome to consult with Dr. Shivani privately. Parents may accompany if the patient wishes, but the decision rests entirely with the young person. Privacy and comfort are always the priority.

Menopause

Perimenopause is the transitional phase leading up to menopause — it can begin several years before the final period and is often characterised by irregular cycles, vasomotor symptoms and mood changes. Menopause is confirmed once there has been no period for 12 consecutive months. Dr. Shivani provides appropriate care at every stage.

Modern HRT formulations, when appropriately prescribed and monitored, are considered safe for most healthy women under 60 who are within 10 years of menopause. Benefits typically outweigh risks in this group. Dr. Shivani conducts a thorough individual assessment before considering HRT and explains all options, risks and benefits clearly.
